Sebo Hoover
The best vacuum cleaners from Sebo
The SEBO brand was founded in 1978 and comes from Velbert in North Rhine-Westphalia. This is exactly where the manufacturing still takes place today. A Sebo hoover is characterised by high quality and functional handling. Not only private households appreciate this. The devices are even used in Buckingham Palace and the German Parliament. There is hardly a better verification in terms of reliability.
In the following, we will show you which Sebo hoover is a good choice. You will also find out what you should consider in this context. We hope to be able to help you with this guide.
Sebo hoover – These models are recommended
Sebo Automatic X7
Brush hoovers are the speciality of the Sebo brand. They guarantee particularly good results on carpets. A recommendation in this context is the Sebo Automatic X7 .
The floor nozzle is equipped with 2 rotating brush rollers. These also comb out fine particles, such as pet hair, from carpets. Because the attachment is 31 cm wide, you can clean large areas in a short time. Conveniently, the height of the brush ring adjusts automatically when you move from carpet to hard floor, for example. This prevents stones and the like from being dragged across the floor.
Other features include a crevice nozzle and a furniture brush. Thanks to them, you can clean almost any area in the household as needed. Incidentally, the volume of the bag is a comprehensive 5.3 litres, so there is rarely any effort involved here. In addition, the brush roll can be removed from the side, which is why it can always be kept clean without complications.
Sebo Felix 1 ROSSO
Those who are interested in an eye-catching look will also be satisfied at Sebo. A unique look is provided by the model Sebo Felix 1 Rosso .
This device is also a brush hoover and is therefore particularly recommended for households that have various carpeted surfaces. Thanks to a working width of 31 cm, you can get on with the job quickly. Since the handle can be adjusted in height, people of all sizes can expect ergonomic and back-friendly handling. The tilt joint is very flexible, so you can even vacuum under low furniture without any problems.
The height of the floor nozzle can be adjusted 4 times, which ensures pleasant results – without streaks and scratches – even on sensitive hard floors. Another great feature is that the power can be infinitely adjusted. This allows you to adequately care for sensitive zones as well as resistant zones at any time. The overheating protection also ensures that the product lasts as long as possible.
Sebo Airbelt K1 One
Classic hoovers continue to enjoy great popularity. They can be used universally and you immediately get to grips with them. A good example is the Sebo Airbelt K1 .
This Sebo hoover is relatively cheap, but of course it is also made in Germany. The term “airbelt” refers to an impact protection that runs around the housing. This prevents damage when it comes into contact with furniture and wall areas. The floor nozzle is suitable for cleaning both hard floors and carpets. Switching is done in the classic way using the foot pedal. The nozzle is 28 cm wide, which means that a good area coverage can be achieved.
The light weight of 5.5 kg ensures that it is easy to handle. In addition, a crevice nozzle and an upholstery nozzle extend cleaning to include selective care of soft fabrics and confined niches. The moderate noise level of max. 75 dB is also praiseworthy.
Sebo hoover – What is important?
Selection options & design
The Sebo brand currently offers 20 different hoovers. All of them are operated with a mains cable and work classically with a bag. Sebo itself divides its hoovers into 2 categories:
- FELIX – Specially designed for carpets
- AUTOMATIC X – Universally suitable for hard floors and carpets
- AIRBELT E – Powerful, compact, efficient and quiet
- AIRBELT K – Lightweight and well suited for small households
- AIRBELT D – High performance, extensive capacities and extra long power cord
Furthermore, the manufacturer also offers special vacuum cleaners and cleaners for carpet stains.
Attachment
There is no single attachment that is optimally suited for every area of the household. Flexible possibilities can be realised if several attachments are available. A Sebo hoover is commendably often delivered with 3 different attachments.
The floor nozzle is the standard attachment for cleaning surfaces. With Sebo, it can be up to 37 cm wide, so that you can make very quick progress. It can be used on carpets as well as hard floors. To prevent sensitive wooden floors, such as parquet, from being scratched by hard particles, you may have to adjust the height of the brush ring when changing it. On some models (Automatic X) this is done automatically.
To be able to clean carpets completely, the rotating brush roll should penetrate deep into the material. Then it can also reliably “comb out” animal hair and the like. There is no doubt that carpet care is Sebo’s speciality.
A crevice nozzle is also helpful. This is particularly narrow and pointed so that even narrow crevices and drawers can be vacuumed out without complications.
In addition, an upholstery nozzle is often included. This is ideal for cleaning soft fabrics. Good examples are beds, cushions, sofas and car seats.
Suction power
An important point is certainly the suction power. It must match the requirements on site, otherwise stress and frustration are virtually pre-programmed. Heavy particles in particular, such as broken glass, stones or cat litter, can cause problems.
Unfortunately, you cannot rely on a single factor when it comes to suction power. It is sometimes wrongly assumed that it is defined by the wattage. However, this primarily indicates the power consumption.
Dubious manufacturers like to use high wattages as an enticement. However, Stiftung Warentest and other test associations have often proven that a high wattage does not necessarily mean high suction power. So in the worst case, it is only a very inefficient device.
Actually, the AirWatt number can provide information about the suction power. However, the emphasis is on “actually”, as there is no standardised measurement procedure. The value is significantly influenced by the type of attachment and its distance from the measuring device. Many manufacturers do not give any information in this context anyway.
It is best to consider several factors. If most of the following are given, you can be sure that the suction power is good:
- Multiple statements from customers that the suction power is good
- solid wattage
- high speed
- high-quality impeller
- durable windings
- air system that is not slowed down by the filter
A Sebo hoover works with values between 700 and 890 watts. This is solid for a corded hoover. Other types, such as cordless hoovers, consume less power regardless of the manufacturer, but are usually not as powerful.
Handling
Very few people find the hoover pleasant to use. For this reason, every manufacturer should feel obliged to provide the user with as much comfort as possible.
Because a Sebo hoover is always a classic floor vacuum cleaner with a cord, the action radius is limited to the cumulative length of the power cord, the hose and, if applicable, the tube. The manufacturer often grants you an operating radius of more than 10 metres. In some cases it is even more than 15 metres (Airbelt D). This means that – despite the cable – you enjoy extensive freedom of movement and do not have to constantly change the socket.
Of course, a low weight is the main factor that contributes to energy-saving handling. Some Sebo models weigh around 5 kg. Such models are then ideal for women and elderly people.
Another convenient feature is the ability to adjust the power continuously. Depending on the situation, you can choose between a rough or gentle approach.
Furthermore, the brush roll can sometimes be removed from the side. This makes it easy to remove stuck debris.
In addition, the dust bag can hold up to 6 litres. This means that they only need to be replaced very rarely, which reduces the effort involved to a minimum.
Filter
The filter also deserves some attention. It determines which particles can be retained. While hoovers can have problems with coarse debris on the outside, it is sometimes the other way round on the inside. If the filter is too permeable, fine allergens are simply stirred up and return to the room air – a nightmare for every allergy sufferer.
If you want to reliably remove fine allergens such as house dust mites, pollen and animal hair, you need a HEPA filter. In the EU, these are subdivided into 3 classes, which filter finer and finer in descending order:
- EPA filter (Efficient Particulate Air filter)
- HEPA filter (High Efficiency Particulate Air filter)
- ULPA filter (Ultra Low Penetration Air filter)
In most cases, an EPA class filter is sufficient. Sebo hoovers are equipped with this filter as standard. However, a HEPA filter (removes at least 99.95% of particles) can be retrofitted if necessary. The latter is recommended for households with allergy sufferers, babies and pets.
Energy consumption
Every hoover needs energy in the form of electricity. A Sebo hoover draws this permanently from the socket, because it is operated with a classic mains cable. Efficient models are the first choice because they not only save you money on running costs, but also protect the environment.
You can tell whether your model of choice is economical by its power consumption. It is given in watts. The higher the wattage, the more electricity is consumed per unit of time. The label of the energy efficiency class, on the other hand, no longer has to be indicated for hoovers, following a ruling by the European Court of Justice.
A Sebo hoover can be very efficient, depending on the model. One can already speak of environmentally friendly behaviour with floor hoovers from 700 watts and less. In the EU, vacuum cleaners in private use are only allowed to use a maximum of 900 watts. This is very good for you, because manufacturers are now forced to provide good suction power with low power consumption.
Volume
The noise level can have a negative impact on everyday life in the household. This is especially the case if the noise level is excessive. It can even have a negative effect on your health and stress level. In addition, other people may feel disturbed during conversations, intellectual work and relaxation.
You can tell how loud or quiet your model of choice is by looking at the sound level, which in turn is expressed in decibels (dB). Since 2017, hoovers in the EU may only be marketed at a maximum of 80 dB. This means that hearing damage in adults can be virtually ruled out. Children should still keep a proper distance, because this value is anything but pleasant.
A Sebo hoover can be classified as low-noise if the volume remains below 75 dB. However, some models are louder, so attention to detail is appropriate. It is unfortunately common for the corded type of hoover to always have a muffled operating noise.
Basically, it must be said that the background noise is not only related to the manufacturer, but also to the design. It is normal that even cheap vacuum robots are less noticeable than hand-held floor hoovers.
